September’s Performance Overview
- Sentiment towards equity markets improved during September.
- Despite trading volumes remaining subdued, investors became increasingly positive with the broader macro risks which have been driving markets during 2010.
- In particular the pronouncements from the Basel Committee on its revised capital requirements for banks, macro data from the US and Europe and clear signs that China’s economy was stabilising all contributed to a more positive outlook for global markets.
- The resolution of the Federal election combined with strong domestic macro data contributed to the Australian market (ASX200) finishing the month up +4.1%.
